Lumix S9 Demo Reel
A collection of photos and video clips from my first time using the Lumix S9 and the 20-60mm lens. Basically, I tested every sample Real Time LUT, some of Emily Lowery's LUTS and some of the Photo Styles. All clips and most photos are straight out of the camera.
Long form video on the LUMIX S9 coming soon.

    Hi Marlene, I've been watching your content for some time now and recently came across this high speed burst tutorial for shooting small birds in flight. I followed your examples re the settings,etc but find that the images are quite pixilated when I zoom in. The image in jpeg is 4.5mb so plenty big enough but just too pixilated. Can you advise me what i'm doing wrong please?

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven 7 дней назад

      The only things I can think of are: You're not using the largest sized jpg. Or you're not at the BEST quality jpg. Check the pixel dimensions of the file on your computer - eg: 5184x3888 (or whatever your camera maximum is). The size of the jpg file doesn't tell you much as that will vary for each photo depending on the colour and detail in your images.

      @@ImageMaven hi Marlene, thank you. I took 2 pics with the same lens, the first single shot and the second on his burst. They are both 5185 x 3888 but the first is 7.22mb and the second 2.99mb. both at 180dpi. The first I can zoom in to 100 no prob, the second is very pixilated at 50, I'm going to try again with jpeg and raw and check the raw files, any other suggestions please? Martin

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven 6 дней назад

      Thanks for clarifying. I would look into your pdf full version camera owners manual for the burst settings of your camera, and read the fine print. You never said which camera you were using. I have a feeling that the burst setting you're using is defaulting to a lower quality - perhaps due to the HS mode. Or perhaps there is another setting that makes the burst mode use the lower quality.

    Hello - prices of lenses for my micro 4/3 Lumix G80/85 makes me cry. Very pricy. Is it very justified to have Lumix G80 with Lumix 100-300mm II lens or it will be good enough to have compact 1 inch sensor Lumix Fz1000mkII or Lumix Fz2500 ? What are the pros of having micro 4/3 system in this situation ? Why exactly these lenses are so expensive ? How they are different from this mechanics in 1 inches superzoom compacts ? I shoot mostly birds. I don't do portraits because I don't have people to do this.

    I'm still trying to figure out how to optimize focussing for my G9M2. It seems like my G9M1 was actually better in some cases (although I'm not inclined to do a controlled comparison), but I think that's most likely due to the fact that I just haven't figured out just yet which modes and settings to use for certain situations. I actually never found DFD to be lacking (in fact, it's better than PD in many cases), but I'm stills-centric. I often use MF, but it's nice to have reliable AF for cases where MF's a crap shoot (like the rare BIF I may attempt). Most of the time, it's not an issue, but I appreciate the insights of those who use AF more for advice in this area. Thanks. IMO, DxO PhotoLab is superior to LR and the Elite version includes DeepPRIME XD NR, which I think does a better job with RAW files than Topaz or LR. I consider editing to be the most important part of the process, as getting the best the print is the goal and subtle differences can make or break a print. I have the Topaz IQ suite (which also includes Sharpen and Gigapixel) plus Photo AI, which includes all three of the programs (but please note that Topaz no longer supports DeNoise or Sharpen as they're included in Photo AI, although they're spinning off Gigapixel as a separate program).

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven 15 дней назад

      Takes awhile to get used to any new focus system. I'm still tweaking my techniques. I do think the G9ii is better at most things, especially birds in trees or partially obscured. I'm definitely getting a better hit rate. Thanks for the update on Topaz apps. I really dislike the Photo Ai software and find it painfully slow. I much prefer just using the DeNoise on it's own. As I don't shoot raw photos much, I am limited to what I use for noisey photos. But I suppose I should update it and see how it works now. Haven't opened it in months. I'm glad you found some apps that work for you. And thank you so much for sharing. Others will find it useful, I'm certain. Cheers!

      Is this for photo or video? I tend to use smaller focus areas for birding. And those work for me. But in low light no camera is perfect. Check out Mike Lane’s channel. @@ImageMaven Thanks for your answer. I mean for photo. Right now I use small areas on my G9, because otherwise it just wont pick up the birds. But I can not really find information about how usable a bigger or full area autofocus is on the G9ii.

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven 15 дней назад

      @@user-my4qm5dt8q It really depends on the light. A bird with a clean background is no problem with full area. But a bird in the trees, where it's busy and dark, would be more of an issue. Bonjour Madame, je dois vous faire un commentaire, non sur cette vidéo, mais bien plus j'ai réussi à découvrir le Paramétrage de l'AF On sur Lumix G9, grace à une vde vos vidéos. Je dois vous avouer que n'étant pas anglophone, j'ai un peu galérer pour avoir la traduction, mais une fois l'avoir plus ou moins comppris et utilisé depuis trois jours maintenant et sur trois boitiers, je crois que l'honneur revient à vous pour m'avoir aidé à comprendre l'AFON à 71 ans, Merci infiniment à vous, j'y teviendrai plus posément ultérieurement. Raphael Boyer de l'ile de la Réunion D.O.M 97-4. Merci encore infiniment.

      Thank you for writing. This is great to hear. I’m happy the AF ON setting helped you. I use it all the time. Reunion island looks like a beautiful place to live and I’m sure there are many things to photograph.

    Nice to see you again. I also dislike editing if I can avoid it, so great tips. Thank you.
